Yesterday, I picked up my dry cleaning through a drive-thru window. I think that may have been one of the laziest things I’ve ever done. There may have been five feet in total between the drive-thru window and the actual front door – and there was no line nor anyone parked in the parking lot. Lazy.
In 2008 I will make a point to do more things like this. It really saved me a lot of time.

Every city and/or state has an FM destination that insists on having an all-Christmas songs-all-the-time station, which seems to start earlier and earlier every year. Houston’s happens to be Sunny 99.1. In theory this is a good idea.. a great way to get into the holiday spirit. In reality, (when you think about it) there aren’t all that many good holiday themed songs, so they are forced to play quite a few stinkers.. and they always seem to be on when I tune in. Hence this list. (more…)
Last weekend Rob and I attended our neighborhood’s infamous holiday blockparty, aptly entitled “Lights in the Heights“. I had first read about it a month or so back and was excited to see what it was all about. The Heights is the name of the section of Houston right inside the inner lop, technically northwest-central, Houston (whatever that means).
I have to say that I love our neighborhood. Maybe it is the holiday season talking, but riding your bike down the lovely tree lined Heights Ave, lit with mini-white bulbs and plastic Santa’s, white picket fences lined with garland and red bows, AND it’s 70 degrees; is just about the best thing I can think of. Due to recent events – I got a car! It’s a sweet 1995 Toyota Corolla, black with slight dinks all over it. The inside lights don’t light up too brightly on the gear changer, so it’s difficult to see if I’m in DRIVE or in REVERSE. The radio knob is broken off and there is only an old tape deck. It’s loud as hell and you can really “feel” the road as you drive – although I don’t think this is a selling point. There’s a permanent scuff mark from what must have been a broken windshield wiper on the driver’s side, which is slightly distracting as you drive.
It’s freaking awesome! (more…)
